‘Each course is tailored
to be intimate. Having passed several US and UK postgraduate medical exams,
there is NO exam that cannot be passed!’
The AKT course includes fellowship lectures, Dr Una Coales’s MRCGP AKT Hot Topics book, 2 complete AKT practice course papers with answers to take home and more practice questions on the day. I pass on my fabulous strategic exam technique and deep knowledge (using didactic, Socratic and heuristic styles of teaching to accommodate all learning styles) which have enabled me to pass every medical MCQ paper since 1989 (computerised 5-day Part 1 module of the USA National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) licensure test, Parts II and III of the NBME, the negatively-marked MCQ module of the old 5-module PLAB exam (1994) and Primary FRCS (1996), the old FRCS (general surgery and ENT) exams (1999, 2000), the DRCOG (2001), and the MRCGP exam (2003). Having passed the US SAT exam (with high scores in maths and English) and passed achievement tests (equivalent of A-levels) in advanced maths, it is easy-peasy for me to teach you postgraduate statistics, the number one reason why STs fail AKT! Course GPs have achieved the highest AKT scores in the UK in April 2008 and Jan 2010 and GP trainees facing their 5th AKTs (2010, 2011) and a record 6th timer (2010) have all passed and received their respective CCTs.
The CSA course offers personalised tuition
with three 1-on-1 CSA role-plays for each delegate (24 role-plays covered on a
course) with senior stage actors (Croydon CSA actors or experienced role play
actors) who also give feedback, includes time-keeping & partner
consultation skills tuition and Dr Una Coales’s MRCGP CSA book. I take you from novice (basic consulting
skills) to expert (advanced consulting skills) in 1 day! The 150 common and
challenging GP cases are based on the new RCGP GP Curriculum, QOF domains, my
PLAB 2: 100 OSCEs and DRCOG books and referenced with current BMJ, BJGP, and
NICE management. The ‘10 CSA
commandments’ (alluded in the testimonials) is a
complex patient-centred partner-level GP consultation model that emphasizes
empathy. For GP trainers, I teach a combination of Entwistle’s
(1994) strategic awareness and deep knowledge, practice Harden’s (2000) 12
roles of a good teacher and incorporate
the ken of the RCGP Working Party’s Future Practitioner (1972) to ensure
candidates are top-notch and safe GPs! 13 cases to be marked out of 9 marks.
Aim for perfection! Be the best! Course candidates have been offered and
accepted GP partnerships.
